A few notes, before you get started:
- These recipes have been developed and tested to meet specific textures required for people who need thickened liquids and pureed solid foods.
- Based on an assessment of your swallowing ability, your healthcare professional will tell you what food texture modifications are right for you. Always follow the direction from your healthcare professional.
- Differences in raw ingredients and preparation techniques may affect the consistency of the prepared thickened food. To learn more about texture modified foods, including how to measure thickened liquids and test pureed foods to make sure they are the right texture for you, visit www.IDDSI.org and look for “patient handouts” in the “resources” section of their website and discuss these resources with your healthcare professional.
These recipes have been developed using a xanthan gum powdered drink and food thickener (ThickenUp® Clear). If you are using a different thickener, please follow the instructions on the product label. Talk to your healthcare professional about what food and fluid consistency is right for you. Using a different thickener or different raw food ingredients may affect the consistency and nutritional content of the finished recipes.
